India, with over 1.2 billion inhabitants, is a top contender for sending its students abroad for higher studies. While India does not lack in prestigious colleges and universities, such as the IITs and IIMs, many young Indian students today wish to pursue their studies in universities abroad.
One of the key reasons why many Indian students today want to study abroad is because their study option hasn’t gained traction or is still not common in India! Even if you come across any of the colleges and universities that offer these courses, these institutions lack the ability to provide the desired career options to students. There are also many opportunities for accessing these less explored and rare courses in countries like the U.S., UK, and Canada.
When you study abroad every step is a learning experience. The benefits of studying abroad are almost endless. Studying abroad is about experiencing a foreign country — and the most beautiful, important part of a country’s culture is its people.
STUDYING ABROAD-
- is a longing for many to go ahead and pursue the kind of career they crave for.
- widens students' knowledge and horizons, provides them space for a burgeoning avidity towards pursuing their passions
- provides an international exposure which is quite imperative for one’s career building process.
- cultivates their independence and personalities.
In the present era, students wish to stand shoulder to shoulder with the globalized world and current technologies. They want to get adapted to the latest trends of the world, meet people of multifarious backgrounds, dialects and cultures, and interact with them on a day to day basis. Employment opportunities are better after studying abroad. A student from an underdeveloped nation or a developing country ultimately looks forward to coin money. And the best way to do this is to study abroad in order to find a decent job.
UNITED KINGDOM
WHY STUDY IN UK?
Degrees from UK higher education providers are respected around the world, and the choice of subjects you can study is extensive. A degree from any British university will look great on a CV, and when looking for work in the future, no matter the industry and the location, having a qualification from the UK will be a great selling point.
- The UK is Culturally Diverse
The UK is a multicultural country and is also immensely popular with international students. In fact, the UK is the second most popular destination for overseas students in the world.
- Sterling work opportunities
Generally, an international student can work up to 20 hours a week during term-time, and ten hours when school is out. This allows students to take on a part-time job or an internship, to learn new skills and earn money while studying.
Your university may even help you secure an internship as part of your course, which will most certainly give you a competitive edge when you graduate.
The UK Government has also announced a new post-study visa that will allow international students who graduate from the summer of 2021 to stay and work in the UK for a further two years.
- Financial benefits
International students can enjoy some financial benefits when choosing the UK.
Firstly, a degree in the UK takes less time to complete than in other countries. In many countries it takes four years, plus two or three extra years to complete a postgraduate degree. In the UK it takes three years for an undergraduate degree and then one extra to complete a postgraduate qualification (unless you are a medical or research student).
International students can also get financial help when studying in the UK, in the form of scholarships, grants and bursaries. Furthermore, living costs in the UK, especially when outside of cities like London, are reasonable.
Things you need to know about studying in the UK
- There are more than 395 universities and colleges, offering over 50,000 undergraduate-level higher education courses across the UK.
